A War on Two Fronts: Fighting for Victory at Home and Abroad

A War on Two Fronts is a multimedia and interactive physical and virtual exhibit and accompanying book on African-American soldiers of the 92nd and 93rd Divisions in WWII.

During the second World War, African American soldiers fought not only the enemy soldiers alongside their white comrades, but also fought discrimination and prejudice imposed on them by their white commanding officers. Soldiers repeatedly had their weapons taken away from them in field, were banned from officer’s clubs and were often overlooked for awards or recognition. These injustices formed a parallel war for what was termed as a “Double Victory” – victory for Allied forces and victory for racial equality, which changed the face of desegregation at home and abroad.
